what’s next?
Now that SEVENFOLD SWORD: SOVEREIGN is out and the SEVENFOLD SWORD series is complete, a few people have asked what’s next.
Well, here’s what I want to do for the next few months:
-July: MALISON: DRAGON WAR, the final book of the MALISON series. I’m about 60% of the way through the rough draft.
-August: DRAGONTIARNA: KNIGHTS, the first book of my new epic fantasy series. (And another sequel series to FROSTBORN and SEVENFOLD SWORD.)
-September: GHOST IN THE VAULT, the 23rd Caina novel overall and the 5th of GHOST NIGHT.
Watch this space for updates!

Will Knight’s entries be of similar length to previous novels or are you going for longer novels? and have you plotted out how many in the series? Apologies if it’s too early to ask.
They’ll be about 90k to 100k, so usual length. I think there’s going to be either ten or twelve books, but it depends on how long certain scenes in the series outline turn out to be.
Is there a link between DRAGONTIARNA linked to MALISON?
…….annnnnnnd Caina saves the Empire. Again. For like the 10th time. For that guy who wanted to kill her “just in case.”
That’s the difference three years can make. Killing Caina at the end of GHOST IN THE SURGE might have been prudent. Killing Caina at the start of GHOST IN THE VAULT might have disastrous international consequences for the Empire and result in a long-term Umbarian victory.
Not arguing. Merely laughing at the irony. What is it Morgant says at the end of Ghost Night? “For the gods sake?” She’s in town 2 minutes and she’s already tasked with saving the empire. Heh. Good thing he didn’t kill her.
Sadly no Nadia book, but we get Caina so I guess its OK.
Also Caina needs to start charging some CASH or get some recognition for this saving-the-empire business. She should ask for her titles/lands restored in the Empire and be given some sort of military authority for local forces. She is a noblewoman and not a ghost-fighter anymore. She could have really used extra grunts in some of her battles, instead of being outnumbered all the time. There is really no need to do everything by herself.
To explain that a bit more – she has no formal authority in the Empire, yet she is expected to solve all their problems which is utterly dumb from a political/governance point of view. It is also suicidal as any one with governing authority can also legitimately arrest her with the excuse of interference in state matters.
The first thing she should tell Lord Aeolus is: first give me formal authority recognised by the Emperor and restore my title in the Empire. No more stupid freebies. She is royalty of another nation. If the Empire is asking her to undertake missions within their territory, they can bloody well recognise her for it. Otherwise the Empire can find someone else to do the job.
GHOST IN THE VAULT will contain a good deal of negotiation.
