a book a month?
I recently saw a blog post from a writer expressing horror at the thought of the grim slog of writing a book a month. Which is what I usually do, barring unexpected trouble.
Writing a book a month obviously isn’t for everyone, I’ll grant that. But I like doing it. I like writing books, I get to do it a lot, and the money is usually pretty good. So there’s no downside! 🙂
Whenever I see someone side-eyeing (as the young people say nowadays) the thought of writing a book a month, I’m reminded of this Onion article:
Pathetic, Washed-Up Rock Star On Fifth Decade Of Doing Exactly What He Always Wanted.

As one of my teachers said back 25 years ago. Find out what you love to do and trick someone in to giving you money to do it.
That is good advice!
I don’t really know where to publish this question: Do you think you will ever write a short story about Kylon’s origins, specifically what happened to his family and how his sister protected him and rose to power? Caina always thinks back to her own origins, her father’s murder, but we never really get to read how the murder of his own parents affected Kylon. I would love to read something about Kylon as a child dealing with those murders, learning to control his water sorcery, becoming the youngest storm dancer, and interacting with Andromache.
I know you already have a busy writing schedule but there are all these characters that I want to see further explored.
Please please please! XD
I wouldn’t write a prequel novel (I’ve come to suspect prequels are the literary equivalent of navel-gazing and don’t move the plot forward) but I might write something like that as the bonus short story to accompany GHOST IN THE COUNCIL early next year.
