That was an awesome read. It didn’t show up yesterday on Amazon if I queried your name but it did by title. She may be a shadow agent but it is cool to see her coming out of the shadows.

Thanks! Glad you liked it. It was fun to write, since the basic genesis of the story idea was that Nadia doesn’t like law enforcement, so it was a good plot to force her to work with law enforcement.

Just finished reading it and really enjoyed it. Nadia was terrific ! Though I am afraid she is too well known to still be a shadow agent if just about everyone recognises her now! I found it a touch unrealistic that the mob boss actually tried to make a move on her business, despite knowing who she was.

Also Nadia has stuck to just the US which is rather limiting for one of the elven queen’s shadow agents. Riordan appears to travel the world most of the time. Hope you send her to other nations or the elven home-world in her future adventures!

Also, with the Archon war over and Kalvarion reclaimed, surely the Elven queen will allow women to enter the Wizards Legion now and have real careers ? The elven policy to disbar female wizards is *tremendously* short-sighted. If there is no legal avenue to magic, women will naturally turn to illegal avenues – dark one cults and the like. You would think Elven nobles who maintain shadow councillors would recognise this. Maybe Nadia can be a (visiting) instructor at one of the wizard schools and scare the students 🙂

Thanks! Glad you liked the book!

The High Queen is aware that big social change is coming to both Earth and Kalvarion, and she wants to ride it as advantageously as possible. That’s one of the several reasons she recruited Nadia – she views Nadia as something like an investment. The High Queen gets control of a powerful human wizard, and her brother’s company might grow to provide jobs for both Earth and Kalvarion.

But the High Queen’s biggest problem at the moment is a substantial minority of Elven nobles. Now that the Archons are dead, they want to abandon Earth, return to Kalvarion, and re-institute serfdom among the Elven commoners. The High Queen as absolutely opposed to that – what she wants to avoid at all costs is a large pool of unemployed (or underemployed), unmarried men, whether Elven or human, since that’s traditionally a ripe situation for a bloody revolution. And Elven serfdom was one of the things that fueled the rise of the Archons on Kalvarion.

Of course, Nadia’s going to get pulled into this sooner rather than later. 🙂
