It had to be the worst job in the city. If anything went wrong with the new police & security department, Owen would catch the blame. That was just the way it was going to work. Or if the police shot an innocent person, or there was a major terrorist attack, anything like that, Owen Quell was getting thrown under the bus. He would have to deal with all sort of headaches.

Such as, for instance, another shadow agent getting involved in a murder investigation.

I stared at my phone, trying to find a way out of this.

Get it over with, Nadia.

I sighed, hit the contact on my screen, and lifted the phone to my ear.
