audio habits
Wrapped up listening to the proof of FROSTBORN: THE FALSE KING today, and I realized I listen to a lot of different audio content.
Ubiquitous low-cost audio isn’t new (car radios, for example) but back then you had to listen to whatever was on the radio. Nowadays with a little foresight you can listen to whatever you want, whenever you want.
Given the plethora of low-cost audio options available nowadays, I’ve developed very specific habits for what I listen to while performing tasks:
-EXERCISE, CARDIO: Music
-EXERCISE, STRENGTH TRAINING: Podcasts
-ROAD TRIP: Audiobooks
-WALKING: Audiobooks
-COOKING: Podcasts
-DOMESTIC CHORES: Podcasts
-YARD WORK WITHOUT ENGINES: Podcasts or Audiobooks
-YARD WORK WITH ENGINES (LAWNMOWING, SNOWBLOWING): Music, when the engine isn’t too loud
-POWER TOOL USAGE: No music, but earplugs for safety reasons. Safety first!
-WRITING: Music
-EDITING: Music
-GRAPHIC DESIGN: Podcasts
Of course, when I get to the phase of editing when my Kindle Fire reads the book aloud to me, I listen to that.
So those are my audio habits. What are yours? 🙂

A decent pair of noise cancelling headphones can let you have your tunes while operating machinery.
