“I shall leave you to your business,” said Damla once the coffee and the wine had been poured.

“You can stay, of course,” said Caina.

“No, no,” said Damla. “The House is busy tonight.” She smiled. “You have been a great blessing to me, my friend. The Living Flame sent you to me in my hour of need. But if I have learned anything in the years since the day you first walked through my door, it’s that there are some things I am happier not knowing.”

Agabyzus smiled a little. “I did always admire how you thought things through.”

“Unless she happened to set a building on fire,” said Morgant.

“Well.” Agabyzus considered that. “Sometimes it is best to improvise.”
