for I have conjured the Kindlestorm
After following the customary arcane rituals (the sacrifice of a sheep, the invocation of Cthulhu, etc.), I got my book “Demonsouled”, the first in a series of three epic fantasy novels (so far), to go free on Amazon.
It happened at about 8:00 PM last night, I think. Maybe a little later.
And in that 24 hour period, “Demonsouled” has been downloaded over 1500 times. That was enough to kick it up to the Top 100 of the free Kindle Store, and number 2 of the free Epic Fantasy subcategory.
Um.
Wow.
I was…not expecting that.
Like, when “Demonsouled” was in print, back in the early Mesozoic Era (2005), it sold maybe 400 copies. Over the course of a year. And today over 1500 copies were downloaded.
In a single day.
In all candor, this has been my plan since I started self-publishing in April (get a series of three books, make the first one free, and sell the sequels), yet now that it actually has come to fruition I find myself almost shocked.
I didn’t think it would actually work.
