10,000 words of DRAGONSKULL: CROWN OF THE GODS!
I am very pleased to report that yesterday I wrote 10,000 words of DRAGONSKULL: CROWN OF THE GODS, for my first 10,000 word day of 2023!
The last time I wrote 10,000 words in a single day was on January 11th, 2022, when I was working on CLOAK OF IRON, so it’s been a while. 🙂 If I remember right I had eight 10k word days in 2021, and twenty-two of them back in 2020, but I did write the entire WRAITHSHARD series that year.
The tricky thing about 10,000 word days is that 1.) I can’t have anything else major I need to do that day, and 2.) everything has to go right during the day. Like, if I have a phone call to make, or home maintenance to do, or something unexpected comes up, that means it’s not going to be a 10,000 word day.
So for the first time since January 2022, both conditions one and two aligned on the same day. 🙂

10k words in an 8 hour working day means 1250 words in an hour means ~21 words per minute.
For that day, I wrote from 9 AM to 7 PM, and the only things I stopped for were lunch, dinner, bathroom breaks, and to reply to some time-sensitive emails.
