yet another 10k word day!
I am pleased to report that I wrote 10,000 words of GHOST IN THE ASSEMBLY yet again, for my 5th 10k word day of 2025!
That brings me up to 93,000 words of GHOST IN THE ASSEMBLY. The end of the rough draft is in sight!
Tomorrow will definitely not be a 10k word day because I have to do all the errands I didn’t do on my back-to-back 10k word days. π

Congratulations on another heavily productive day!
Question: Have you ever written in a genre outside of your comfort zone? How was the experience? And what’s a genre you’d like to try, or don’t think you would ever try?
Thanks! I’ve tried mystery and LitRPG, but neither one sold particularly well for me.
That’s actually strange to me, because as far as i have seen, LitRPG is fairly niche and still has a huge fanbase for some particular works. Maybe like how sci-fi readers prefer their covers to have spaceships and planets, there’s a specific cover preference for litRPG too?
I don’t really know, though, as I’ve never written litRPG. Just an observation π
I’ve joked that I should have written my LitRPG so that the protagonist has a harem of anime monster girls, since that seems to be popular in the genre. π But I’ll finish it up with the third book this summer, and probably not go back to LitRPG.
People don’t really like virtual reality LitRPG. They just skip reading the same. Readers like re-incarnation/portal fantasy/system apocalypse LitRPG.
That makes a lot of sense.
I second the reincarnation and portal fantasy points. I’ve seen a steady popularity for litRPG in those areas. And there’s also cultivation, which is somewhat more niche (think Mother of Learning).
