Jonathan Moeller vs. the dragon
I spent this weekend finishing the rough draft of GHOST IN THE STONE and beginning the rough draft of THE DRAGON’S SHADOW, but I slipped in a little time to play Skyrim, and I killed my second dragon.
And a glorious battle it was! We fought on the mountains overlooking Riverwood, and the dragon swooped like a bird-of-prey, unleashing flame and talon, while I shot arrow after arrow skyward, interspersed with volleys of magical lightning. But in the end I was victorious, and I hurled the dragon to earth, and it smote its ruin upon the mountainside.
Then I returned to the valley, and was promptly killed by a bear.
Those bears of Skyrim! Forget the dragons. If a dozen of the bears got together, they could conquer Skyrim in a week.

“and I killed my second dragon.”
Huzzah!
“And a glorious battle it was!”
Yes, the early dragon battles are EPIC! Problem is, like I’ve said before, once you reach a certain level, they become pushovers, and you’ll be cutting through them like a knife through hot butter. Which is cool at first, lol. But after a while you start wishing they were more of a challenge. Where I am now (and where you’ll be someday), your practically invincible. Hopefully a future expansion pack will rectify that. Speaking of expansions, did I ever ask you what you thought of Hearthfire?
“and I hurled the dragon to earth, and it smote its ruin upon the mountainside.”
Gandalf would be proud π
“and was promptly killed by a bear.”
rofl! π
You really have to stop taking those honey baths π
“Those bears of Skyrim! Forget the dragons. If a dozen of the bears got together, they could conquer Skyrim in a week.”

I’m surprised Bethesda never made a race of bear people, seeing as how they have just about every animal sort of person. Cat people, Lizard people, and off the continent, monkey people, snake people…even slug people. Actually if the Empire were to gather up all the bears in Tamriel, they could repel the Akavir invasions with ease, and then take the fight to the snake people in their own homeland! You should really talk to the Emperor about this π
And since we are on the subject of games, are you interested in War of the Roses?

It looks like it will be a pretty cool PC game, with Mount & Blade style combat. It comes out next week too!
And if you pre-order/pre-purchase it today (last day) you’ll get the game upgraded to the deluxe edition for free, which includes the sound track.
The Wars of the Roses is one of my favorite historical periods, but I never really got into MMOs. Thanks for the tip, though!
Oh but it’s not an MMO! It has both a single player and multiplayer campaign in it (that’s what all the press releases say). Yes, the mutiplayer elements are an important selling point, but perhaps you should think of the game in terms of Halo or Call of Duty, that is what the multiplayer portions of the game reflect, big battle maps, that’s all. Jump in and out gameplay, no more, no less.
There is a big difference between an MMORPG and a game that has online multiplayer. But if you are objecting at having anything to do with online gameplay, even if it is just drop in/drop out, then yeah part of the game would be useless to you.
FWIW Jon you may have to learn to get used to that kind of stuff; if Mass Effect 3 was any indication of things to come (at least at bioware), then even single player RPGs may be adding mandatory online portions of gameplay to their over all design.
