CLOAK GAMES: TOMB HOWL excerpt
Now working on Chapter 12 of 14 of CLOAK GAMES: TOMB HOWL.
I am pleased to report that in this book I managed to sneak in both a Dungeons & Dragons joke and a John Wick joke, though sadly not in the same chapter.
Let’s have a brief excerpt from CLOAK GAMES: TOMB HOWL, during which Nadia engages in a constructive dialog with a co-worker:
“I don’t give compliments. I state facts. It is frankly baffling that a pretty young woman would know how to wire a bomb properly while possessing unusual magical skill, but here you are.”
“Pretty young woman?” I said. “If you’re trying to flirt with me, I should warn you that it is really a bad idea.”
He snorted. “No, the boss is the one who prefers to seduce damaged women. I would prefer to shoot you in the head and get it over with.”
“I can’t believe I’m about to say this,” I said, “but I think I preferred the flirting.”
