CLOAK GAMES: HAMMER BREAK underway!

I’m working on GHOST IN THE RING as my main project right now, but I’ve also started on CLOAK GAMES: HAMMER BREAK, the eighth book in the CLOAK GAMES series.

If all goes well, I hope my publication schedule for summer 2017 will look like this:

June: GHOST IN THE RING

July: SEVENFOLD SWORD: CHAMPION

August: CLOAK GAMES: HAMMER BREAK

  • That was my thought also. Cloak Games is currently my favorite series by far. This summer is looking good.

Cloak Games is my favorite series even if it is not your most popular one. I enjoyed the ‘happy’ ending in Frostorn, though I do wish the Frostborn themselves had stayed back to get their backsides kicked a bit more after the world gate closed. It wasn’t really a big loss for them. There is nothing really preventing them from another invasion in a few hundred years if they can get some disaffected people to open a world gate.

Regarding Cloak Games, like I mentioned in another post, there is no reason that Nadia Moran can’t blow up ammo once she has achieved sufficient control over flame and telekinesis. Once a wizard has learned fine granular control, I see no reason why this shouldn’t be possible. (assuming there is no shielding). No improbable magical elven bullet immunity needed for her to effectively defend and attack against conventional weaponry. Looking forward to her future character (and wizardly) growth.

If I remember my math right, I think the Frostborn would have to wait another 250 years (roughly) for the moons to realign to reopen a world gate.

Nadia’s a lot more powerful after TRUTH CHAIN, but she’s still got a lot to learn. Some of that learning will come in HAMMER BREAK. 🙂

  • Lots of interest in Cloak Games (which I, of course, agree with). Yet I think you’ve mentioned that less than 5% of your sales are Cloak Games books.

I’ve concluded that the sort of reader to whom Cloak Games appeals is much more likely to visit the blog of a writer than those who read SF or Frostborn like books.

A writer named Chris Nuttall recently asked for input on what he should write next and the votes were 10 to 1 for fantasy over SF even those his series in both those genres are about equally popular.

The evidence is not yet statistical, but that’s definitely my hypothesis.

Actually, I think that might have gone up. I didn’t release anything new in April, so I’ll be curious to see what the percentages are when I have time to calculate them.

FROSTBORN didn’t really get super-popular until book 10 or so when the omnibus caught on. I’m hoping to try something similar with the CLOAK GAMES omnibus at some point.
