Help Desk Screeds triumphant

The Lord has been good to me. My technology blog, Help Desk Screeds, clocked in just over 96,000 hits this month, an average of 3100 a day.

A new record, friends and neighbors! By contrast, Help Desk Screeds clocked 47,000 hits in March of 2010, and 11,000 in March of 2009. Traffic has risen every single month since June of 2010, except for February of 2011 (which was due to a technical glitch, because the site crashed while I was in the hospital for two days, and I didn’t notice until I got home).

Ad revenue has been up as well – I made thirteen times my hosting costs for March.

My goal is to reach 100,000 hits for the month of May, and when Ubuntu Linux 11.04 comes out on April 28th (most of my traffic comes from Ubuntu-related posts), I think I can pull it off. The next version of Ubuntu is coming with a significant UI change, and I suspect this will generate major search traffic. I also want to expand the site with a series explaining common Linux commands and their uses on Ubuntu.

So thank you all for reading. Can’t be a writer without readers, after all.
