Silent Order: Morph Hand & Cloak Games: Blood Cast
I’ve only got about 25,000 words left to go on the seventh SILENT ORDER book, SILENT ORDER: MORPH HAND, so I think I’m going to wrap that up before I start on SEVENFOLD SWORD: SHADOW and CLOAK GAMES #10.
Recently, a review of the SILENT ORDER series agreed with me that Jack March was kind of the opposite of James Bond – Bond is a suave, gregarious womanizer, and March is a roughneck loner. That said, the review also spotted some Philip Marlowe influence in March, which is accurate – I finally got around to reading several of Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe books last year.
Still, they’re all very different characters. Imagine how they would respond to a a threat from a villain:
Bond’s response: Suave witticism.
Marlow’s response: Cynical, world-weary witticism.
March’s response: CYBORG PUNCH!!!
Anyway, if all goes well, both CLOAK GAMES: BLOOD CAST and SILENT ORDER: MORPH HAND should come out in February, with CLOAK GAMES in the first half of the month and SILENT ORDER in the second half.

Gotta love characters who dodge the Hollywood fallback: monologuing. When bad guys tell everyone their secret plans, and good guys try for some inexplicable reason to convince the bad guys to swap sides…or give up…or just trade witty banter with a dude they plan to kill. Cause you know…that makes sense.
Fortunately, March doesn’t like to talk. Saves him a lot of time. 🙂
