book recommendations
Reader JS asks:
“Sir, would you feel comfortable giving a couple of recommendations of Authors that cover the same type of material that you do? I have read and re-read all of yours and a few others. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks.”
Well, here’s some things I’ve read recently that I’ve liked.
-The STIGER series by Marc Alan Edelheit. It’s about a lost Roman legion that gets dropped into a fantasy world and builds its own civilization.
-The KORMAK series by William King. It’s about a wandering knight named Kormak who fights evil wizards and monsters. By the author’s own description, it’s basically Conan if Conan had been raised by an order of wizard-fighting monks. First book in the series is free!
-The TROY trilogy by David Gemmell. It’s Gemmell’s retelling of the Trojan War, and I frankly think it’s his best work.
–GALAXY’S EDGE series by Jason Anspach and Nick Cole. The authors themselves describe it as #StarWarsNotStarWars, and it’s about the Legion fighting to keep the peace in a corrupt Republic that is under threat from both without and within.
–BRUTAL by James Alderice. Basically Conan goes to Lankhmar.
–BLOOD ON THE STARS series by Jay Allan. I’ve only read the first two books, but it’s a good military SF story about two massive interstellar powers going to war.
-The SCHOOLED IN MAGIC series by Christopher Nuttall. I’ve only read the first two books of this series as well, but it’s an interesting story of an Earth girl who gets abducted to a magical world and becomes a powerful wizard at wizard school, all while her ideas start shaking the society of the magical world to its foundations.
–MONSTER HUNTER MEMOIRS by Larry Correia and John Ringo. It’s about a guy hunting supernatural monsters in 1980s New Orleans, and it was both pretty funny and entertaining. The final book in the trilogy is coming out on July 3rd.
